Head Line Meaning: How You Think and Decide
Clever people hide in this line. Slow people hide in it too. Come, let us find out which one you are. I will be kind, mostly.
Where it runs
Look at the middle of your palm. The head line starts near the life line, close to the edge of the hand between thumb and first finger. Then it crosses the palm toward the little finger side. It lies below the heart line.
Look at the start first. Does the head line stay joined to the life line for a long way? Then you are not so sure of yourself. You lean on other people's opinions. The longer they stay joined, the more this is true. If it starts a little apart, you think for yourself. You decide fast, and you are bold. Too far apart, and you are rash and in a hurry.
If it starts inside the life line and crosses it, you are easily upset. Cheiro calls this a sensitive and nervous mind that gets angry fast. Benham says the mind changes often, and you start over many times. Maybe it starts at the mound under the first finger. Maybe it sends a branch there. Then you have a leader's mind and big hopes. That is a very good sign.
Your hand shape comes first
The shape of your hand changes how you use your head. A square palm with short fingers is an Earth hand. You are practical and patient. A square palm with long fingers is an Air hand. Your mind is quick, you talk well, and you are curious. A tall palm with short fingers is a Fire hand. You act fast and you hate waiting. A tall palm with long fingers is a Water hand. You feel your way to answers, and your mood matters. If you cannot tell, you are in between.
What each shape tells you
Straight across the palm. You are realistic and logical. You are good in business.
Sloping down toward the moon mound. You have imagination, art and ideas. A gentle slope means you use your imagination well. A very steep and deep slope can mean your imagination carries you away, says Cheiro. Benham says it is no bad sign if the line itself is good.
Long. You think carefully, from many sides. Short. You decide fast, and you follow your feeling.
Thin and deep. Your head works well. Thick and shallow. It is hard for you to make up your mind.
A fork at the end. You have two talents, and a side work can suit you. Cheiro warns that you may be pulled two ways, so follow your first idea. Benham says you have many gifts, and the deeper branch wins.
A fork with three branches. One goes to the little finger mound, one to the edge of the hand, and one to the moon mound. Trade, stubbornness and imagination come together. This gives a good chance of success, says Benham.
Wavy, or broken into pieces. Your interest moves around, and your mood changes your thinking. Chain-like. You think too much, and it is hard to keep your focus.
The end curves up toward the little finger. As the years pass, you care more about money. Small branches going up show hope and talent. Small branches going down show a person who is easily let down.
Two clear head lines. Very rare. You live two ways of thinking at once.
One line across the whole palm, where head line and heart line become one. Your focus is strong, you think in your own way, and you hold to it hard. Cheiro says this can bring loneliness.
Different in the two hands. Say the left slopes down and the right runs straight. You were born with a dreamer's mind, and life taught you to be practical.
Marks on the head line read like marks anywhere. An island is a low-energy time. A cross is doubt, or a change of direction. A small square around a break or island is a guard, and it means recovery.
What people get wrong
"A short head line means you are not clever." It means you decide fast and trust your feeling. That is a gift in many jobs.
"A sloping head line is a daydreamer who gets nothing done." It is imagination. Many artists have it. A gentle slope is a good use of the mind.
"A forked end means you cannot choose." It may mean you have two talents. Cheiro and Benham do not agree here, so look at the rest of your hand.
"A chained head line means a weak mind." No. It means you think and think, and your attention breaks. That is a habit, and habits can change.
"My head line is fixed." Lines can change after a big decision or a new way of living. Make a hard choice, study something new, and look again in a few months. Take the photo in the same light.
A word from me

I have one scolding for the long thinkers and one for the quick ones. Long line: you think from so many sides, and still you wait for a sign. Write your choice on paper tonight and sleep on it. Short line: you jump, and you are often right, and so you stopped listening. Ask one person before the big jumps. Both of you, hear this. Your head line is not set in stone. It changes as you change.
